About

My current work and interests sit at the intersection of information science and statistics, with a particular focus on scholarly metadata, bibliometrics, and research data quality. I employ reproducible analysis and record-level validation to examine what research databases represent, and where their limitations lie.

I hold an MS in Information Sciences and a BS in Statistics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I previously worked in the Research Library at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Working with Python, R, SQL, and scholarly data.

Bibliographic linkages

arXiv & OpenAlex

A statistical audit of coverage, record correspondence, and metadata consistency across more than three million arXiv manuscripts and their representation in OpenAlex.

Methods & scope

The work combines identifier normalization, cross-source comparisons, and manual review of ambiguous or unmatched records. Reproducible Python and R workflows support retrieval, validation, and statistical analysis.

What does a publication date actually represent?

Investigating the meaning, consistency, and reliability of publication dates in OpenAlex, with attention to differences in how scholarly records represent publication events.

Research focus

The analysis examines differences in dates and record representation across sources, documenting the evidence and limits of each interpretation.
